•NowTheo bridges meditation and parts work – he understands the depth of meditation as well as emotions.
•He's systematic. He tracks really well. He takes notes during the session. An hour and a half in, he might bring up something that you were tracking way before.
•He holds the container really well. Sometimes we've done sessions that are two hours – there's a sense of being okay with whatever's happening. He goes along with the process, and his nudges and inquiry let things unfold in big ways. Not every time, but very frequently, it really moves stuff in for me in ways that are helpful.
•He also brings in core transformation. It's a bit advanced, but if you have the meditative skill around sensations you can apply that to emotions too and it's really helpful.
What Resonated
•He's from Asia and based in Asia. Some friends want someone who is based in their local community.
•He's a coach, not a therapist. If you have a lot of more intensive trauma, you might need to take it slow, and a trauma specialist who takes insurance might be better.
•There is a lot of space to go into the experience. He does two hour intro sessions, which is such a generous act. It gives enough space for someone to really just go in with any question or unknowings they have and to have an experience.
What Resonated
•It was really vulnerable for me to trust someone like that. I would often do things alone and form a self-reliant identity, which is its own form of protection. Going out and seeking help from other people was a growth edge. I was so lovingly held by him.
•Memories came up that I had forgotten about. Instead of writing about it like I would have in the past, I went into the feeling and relived and experienced them again for the healing to complete. Which doesn’t fully happen if you’re just journaling or writing about it. I remember at one point I screamed ‘fuck’ three times because some anger needed to be exprsesed and released. Him holding me in that way was very eye opening and startling for me. I had no idea how much was still stored in the memories that needed to be released and expressed.
